Before I Go is a deeply personal EP by Esther Veen, shaped by her roots in Indonesia. When she brought me the songs, it was clear the sound had to carry as much weight as the story behind them.

I recorded, produced and mixed the EP, and every decision came back to one question: does this sound like where these songs come from? That meant building a sonic world with real depth, and leaving plenty of air around Esther’s vocals so they could breathe and sit at the heart of each track.

Esther wanted a production and mix that felt modern but warm, so we avoided anything cold or over-polished. The result is clear and current, with a human, inviting feel that suits the intimacy of the music.
